The Punam Project

Definition:  PUNAM - A pretty/cute face. Sometimes a person in general.

So, I've done a couple of hardcover bound photo books using the Aperture printing process that have turned out pretty well. Since I needed a new project, Kelly and I brainstormed a bit and came up with the idea of our take on a "photo-booth" concept.  I'm not sure if it makes total sense but the idea is to take pictures of people and ask them to make the same four different expressions: happy, sad, surprised and a "wild card" face of their choosing.  Here are some of the first pictures I took at our Notre Dame football/Texas Rangers baseball watching party from last week (P.S. They both lost!)

I'd love to hear what you think of the concept and pictures.

Hawks Stanley Cup

There is nothing better than watching a LIVE hockey game up at the glass! Don't get me wrong, I love all kinds of sports but some are just more fun to watch on a "HUGE SCREEN" TV, like football. But a LIVE hockey game is tough thing to beat. So having grown up in Oak Park, IL and having become an expert, in my day, at playing hockey on the iced over streets in front of our house (yes actually skating on the frozen streets where pucks can do some damage to a parked car, not that I would know...), one just had to make the pilgrimage to Chicago to see the Blackhawks play in the Stanley Cup 2010 Championship Series!!

Needless to say, the trip to the Hawks Cathedral on Madison Avenue became a guys trip for Colin, my son, and I. As my family will attest, as long as it is something that "I" want to do, I do it up LARGE! We had seats six rows up from the glass, in the corner, where the Hawks would be shooting for 2 periods. Ouch $$$ but Nice, Very Nice!

The picture of the Hawks on the ice at the end of the game was taken from that vantage point while they celebrated their win in game number two of their quest to win the Stanley! Not a bad pic in a dark stadium from the other end of the rink if I do say so myself. Don't forget to play Chelsea Dagger by The Fratellis as you view the picture! Travel Safe. TJS

Chicago O'Hare

Flight 105 & 106 of the year 2011: LaGuardia to O'Hare to DFW.  American Airlines and the airports have been decorating with pink ribbons for Breast Cancer Awareness month. I snapped a quick picture at ORD.

DFW > LGA

Flight 103 & 104 of the year 2011: San Angelo to DFW to LaGuardia. So, a couple of things... First can we talk about worlds apart? I was in San Angelo Texas on Thursday afternoon. West Texas in all of its glory (I mean that as a compliment, like I always say, "God Bless Texas"!) Then I landed in NYC at 10:30 that night for a one hour drive in rain and city traffic with construction. A bit of culture shock.

Second, I have a pilots license and obviously fly a bunch commercially but even I puckered hard as we came out of the solid overcast clouds to land at Laguardia Thursday night. I was watching out the window to see when we would come out of the clouds, when all of a sudden we pop out and are just about touching the roof tops. Yikes..a 400 foot ceiling! Not a fun way to land a plane. TJS
